"An eye can threaten like a loaded gun, or it can insult like hissing or kicking; or, in it's altered mood, by beams of kindness, it can make the heart dance for joy.....One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it trancends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Been pretty strange weather wise, sunny between the hail, snow and rain. Definately not ideal weather for cutting the grass for the first time this year. Yesterday I wasn't even half way through when I got pelted and soaked with hail. Not to mention the fact the lawnmower and all the stuff I had out to assist me in my garden project. So it was with some trepidation that I stepped out once more to run the gauntlet between showers. Just managed finished before the showers started again. So that's the grass at the back had its first cut. Two new visitors to the garden today in the shape of the doves in the first two photos, aren't they pretty. And, I'm happy to report that the Rooks are making a habit of visiting. There are three of them and I think this one is the oldest of the three and very handsome. Buddy doesn't appreciate their visits as much as me and tends to hurtle himself at them at full pelt. I think they are starting to realise they have an advantage over him...wings...smile!
Back to the peace and quiet of my Blog for the foreseeable future. A lot going on at home at the moment and Facebook is a bridge too far when I'm feeling like this. I know it's not the same but sharing my Blog is as good as it's going to get.
Need to paint more and I'm thinking of doing 100 studies like the one below along similar lines to Karin Jurick's 100 Hundred convicts, only with horses...smiles. Won't be a daily thing just a go with the flow. Anyways my eyes are starting to knit together, I need my beauty sleep. Thanks for looking!

Been a bit short on blog posts as everything is up in the air at the moment but this afternoon I escaped outside as it was just to nice to stay inside. Just couldn't pass up the oppertunity to photograph the new guy in the top photo. A couple of young Rooks have made some tentative visits to the garden but are nervous and shy, this is the first time I've managed to photograph them. Of course they can't replace Samson but I do hope they'll come to realise that they are welcome in my garden. Middle photo of some later flowering daffs which just glow in the sun and last but not least my wee Lilly.
Hope your enjoying the sun wherever you are...

Wee doodle I did yesterday, not a very good photo I'm afraid as I took it with my phone. Unfortunately disaster struck on Monday for not only did a reach the big 60, I managed to drop my camera. I'll let you all guess what upset me most...smile! Not that I don't have another there's an EOS 600D languishing safely in it's padded bag. But I absolutely adore my PowerShot SX50 HS I'm keeping everything crossed it can be repaired.

"Buttercups, Daisies and Moo"
Acrylic 10" x 12"
At the beginning of March while having a tidy in the studio (moving one pile of treasure across to join another pile) I found this sleepy guy above. I really intended just to gesso over him and start something else but I started to footer about with the greens, liked what I saw and put it aside for a rainy day. Well as would have it this morning was that rainy day, for once I was glad of some rain. A wee tweak here and there adding more blue and red to the green, Putting stronger shadows on the wee moo and a smattering of buttercups and daisies and voila a much better painting me thinks...
